I hold a BSc(Hons) in Psychological Studies (1st) and a MSc in Psychology and Investigation (distinction). I have recently started doing a PhD and am currently investigating whether the social construction of gender and sexuality impacts on perceptions of Intimate Partner Abuse, thereby inhibiting acceptance of IPA executed by women and within Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender relationships. I have just written a paper on the definitions of Domestic Violence which I am presenting in Amsterdam 1st April 2011. It is my aim to increase awareness of IPA (aka domestic violence) outside of the traditionally recognized 'violence against women' so that unacknowledged victims are able to access similar services that are predominantly afforded heterosexual women.
