As a computer scientist working for the Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC), I develop and perform large-scale seismic hazard calculations using high performance computing. I also develop and release open-source seismological and engineering software used in ground motion modeling and simulations. Before joining SCEC, I was a member of the Professional Staff in the Caltech Seismological Laboratory in Pasadena, California. While at Caltech, I worked on the TriNet project with scientists and software developers to develop a state-of-the-art data acquisition and real-time earthquake monitoring system. My commercial software development experience includes communications firmware development on trunking mobile radios for a radio manufacturer, software design and development on a military command and control system for Hughes Aircraft, software development on a National Missile Defense special study for TRW, and software development on a web-based healthcare billing system for Kaiser Permanente.
